When asked what aggravates them most about modern phone communication the majority of people will say that it is voice mail. Pressed for details, they explain that it is the automated answering process that companies use to screen and direct calls that bugs them, not the basic messaging-taking function.

Companies are spending large sums of money to antagonize their customers and it only seems to get worse. When a person needs help with a problem and can’t reach another human, the situation deteriorates rapidly. Using the numbers on your touch tone pad is fine when you want to verify your bank balance, pay a bill or have a dry newspaper delivered; but when your pipes are backing up, your new computer just crashed, or a tree just fell on your brand new SUV, call processing may not be the answer.

There are advantages to an automated system. It saves money in salaries and benefits. It prevents old-fashioned phone tag by allowing people to leave detailed messages in their own voice with clear and correct information. Voice mail crosses all time zones so people can leave and retrieve messages at their convenience.

The disadvantages are that people can hide behind voice mail, often the prompts are confusing, working through the menu can be more time-consuming than speaking to a “live” person, and some people just don’t like talking to machines.

If your company uses an automated system to process calls make sure it provides the best customer service by following these suggestions:

1. Keep your greeting short and sweet. (No one cares that your menu options have changed. They only want to know what options they have now.)

2. List your menu options according to popular usage.

3. Tell callers how to reach another human early in the process.

4. Think twice before using voice mail for customer service issues.

5. Survey your customers from time to time to see how they feel about your voice mail system.

6. Try calling your own system occasionally and find out first hand what your customers are experiencing.

Voice mail can be either an incredible asset to your business or an incredible pain for your customers. Don’t force innocent people to spend their valuable time in your voice mail jail.

According to Doubleclick’s survey, 63% of consumers base their decision on whether to read or delete an e-mail based upon the information in the “from” field. Simply put, most people check to see who sent the e-mail before they decide to open it or not.

Think about it – isn’t that what you do? Don’t you generally tend to read e-mails from people you know and trust in preference to others?

So how, exactly, do you first become known to and then become trusted by your prospects? Certainly this is something that’s easier said than done – but it can be done and it’s well worth the effort.

First of all don’t spam. You will become known to your prospect -but for all the wrong reasons. Your e-mail messages will be deleted unread and you may lose your ISP account.

Use permission e-mailing. Build a list of opt-in e-mail subscribers. Use a sign up form on every page of your website. Use a special “gateway” page where people can join your list. Give away free e-books, reports, white papers etc. as an incentive to join your list.

Provide your subscribers with useful information. Don’t bombard them with a daily hard sell and don’t send them information or offers unrelated to the original topic in which they expressed an interest.

Intersperse your information with relevant offers which they may be interested in.

It’s that simple. Build your opt-in list and provide your subscribers with real and valuable information. Yes – it takes time and effort, two commodities which many internet “marketers” seem reluctant to invest – but the results are worth it.

When you learn to use your imagination to help you build your faith in God, you will be able to receive the words of the Lord. You will be able to call yourself a Person of Faith.

You are a good and worthwhile person and you are entitled to have your prayers answered. You can communicate with God. When you do you will begin to believe in that which you cannot see or understand. That’s why you need to use your imagination.

You need to allow yourself to dig deep down within your imagination and find your faith. Your imagination holds the key to finding your faith. It is the act of unlocking your imagination that will enable you to reveal your deepest feelings of faith to yourself.

Opt in to having faith in God. Opt in to a life of merit, virtue, and bliss.

When you do, you will shortly discover a wonderful state of peace of mind. You will begin to feel secure. You will stop worrying about acts of terrorism and natural disasters. You will begin to feel wonderful. You will begin to rely on your faith.

Stop trying to patch yourself together with temporary patches and pills when the only patch you really need is a patch of faith. Create your own faith patch from your imagination. It can become your symbol of faith.

Don’t relegate your true feelings of faith to your junk folder or spam control. Allow your feelings of faith to burst forth. Learn how to express your feelings of faith. You are entitled to declare yourself a Person of Faith. You are entitled to have faith.

We are all genetically predisposed to have faith. It is an inborn gene that our creator endowed us with from the beginning of mankind. It is your inalienable right to have faith in God. It is your right to believe in God any way that you chose. God gave us all the right to make choices. That’s what makes us human.

Do not deny yourself your faith in God. You are entitled.

When you discover that you are a good and worthwhile person, you will start to realize that you have a right to believe in God any way that you want. You will begin to get the resolve that will help make you a Person of Faith. Do not deny yourself.

Listen closely for the words of God. If you have enough faith you will be able to hear his message of love. Listen closely for his words of wisdom.

It doesn’t matter how you listen or receive the words of the Lord. It doesn’t matter whether they are in the form of an imaginary e-mail. All that really matters is that you receive him into your heart. All that really matters is that you find your faith in God. The important thing is to believe and have faith.
